30 years of fighting
I started my mission this morning with a prayer I asked God to help me find the right person to give my stimulus money to. So after seeing my Dr. I walked around the VA Clinic (Veterans Administration) looking for the right person but no luck. I decided to go outside and I stood by the smoking area. One person walked out the door and looked like a likely candidate but he turned and walked the other direction. The next thing I know is that he turned around and walked right up to me and shook my hand and asked if I were a P.O.W.? (Prisoner of War) I said no but I am a Viet Nam Era Vet. Meaning that I served in the Army during the Viet Nam Conflict. I then asked him if he was a Viet Nam Vet? Yes he said, I ask him how he was doing? He said that he was still fighting the effects of Agent Orange he was carrying two brown bags full of medicine thirty years after coming in contact with the defoliant, Agent Orange. I asked him if he believed in God? Yes he said 100%. Well at this point I knew that this was the person that I was going to give my stimulus money to. I then explained that the pastor of my Church gave it’s parishioners $50,000.00 to give away. I then handed him the envelope he looked inside moments later he asked what he was supposed to do with the money? I told him that it was his to spend as he saw fit, maybe pay a bill or go out to dinner. I could tell by the look on his face, I said no strings attached and turned to walk away he looked in the envelope again and this time I think he saw the note that I had written on a piece of paper “God Loves You”.
That’s my story and I am sticking to it. What a wonderful feeling it was for me. I think that he is going to hold on th that envelope and my note to remind him of Gods Love.
