A tidal wave of good
My husband is coaching our youngest son’s baseball team this year and there is a precious little 8 yr. old named Zachary on the team. We knew him and his family a little bit from T-ball a couple of years ago and were excited to find out he would be on our team again. Sweet, sweet child. Always happy to play ball.
At the beginning of the season, Zach’s mom told me he may miss a few practices/games because his dad was very sick with an inoperable brain tumor. Understandable. Naturally, we’ve tried extending our hands to help, but she seems to be the type that really doesn’t accept help and hasn’t let us do much at all. Not even letting me bring the snacks on her assigned day. Nothing.
Zach’s dad has gotten much, much worse these last couple of weeks and I could see the strain on her face. God put them so deep into my heart that I’ve prayed for them every day since we found out. I’ve tried sharing a little with her from time to time but she always seems distant when I go ‘there’. None the less, I know God wants me to keep praying for them wholeheartedly.
Leaving church last Sunday, I immediately thought of them because he can’t work anymore and she’s quit her job to stay with him. I didn’t say anything to my husband or son though. And it didn’t matter because before we got out the door our 13 yr. old said, ‘I wanna give mine to Zachary’. I agreed, but didn’t say anything to my husband yet. I prayed about how to do it without offending her since she seems the type that might be. Wednesday she called my husband to let us know they found out he has 4 weeks to live and so they may not make the next game (I know–superwoman syndrome). He offered to help her which she politely refused then hung up and immediately said, “We need to give them that money’.
Saturday night, her aunt brought Zach to the game for her and afterwards I gave her the $300 we got from church and explained where it came from and the tons of confirmation I got about giving it to them. She cryed and thanked me. I redirected all thanks to my God who knows all and can do anything
Wanda, Zach’s mom, just called me to thank me and to my surprise, is now letting me help her by keeping Zachary for the week while she gets him settled in a hospice.
God is so good and he’s using this money to do more than buy groceries. She’s trusting me for help now, and I pray she senses God on us and that it opens the door for so much more. I KNOW God loves that family and wants them to know Him so badly. It is never too late for miracles and he can bring fantastic good out of anything. It’s His specialty. Everyone please remember this family with prayer for healing and salvations all around.
This has started a tidal wave of GOOD for the kingdom of God!! I can’t wait to do it again. We’re on the lookout for opportunites everywhere now.
