Divine appointment

One saturday morning recently I woke up before dawn and had a stronge sense in my spirit to drive to Bay and prayer walk around the church, so I did – thinking this was the reason the Lord woke me up and sent me to the church. But as I rounded the front corner, I was startled by seeing 2 homeless men asleep in the flower bed up against the church wall.  Then I realized the real reason He sent me to the church that morning – to minister to these men.The sun was barely peeking out at this point and I asked the Lord what He wanted me to do. “go get them breakfast” – so I went to Mcdonalds and brought back breakfast and one man was stirring when I got there. Car on fire

A few weeks ago I was driving in Fairhope to run some errands. I’m 20 years old, work three jobs and I only have one day off a week. On my off days I spend all my time running around getting things done. This day I had way more stuff to do then normal, but as I was leaving Fairhope I drove past a mom with 2 kids sitting on the side of the road. I noticed her car was very smokey and her 2 kids were about 50 feet away sitting under a shady tree. I kept driving and something told me I should turn around and see if she needed help. I didn’t want to because I was so busy but I did anyways. When I got turned back around she said she was a single mom, who recently got divorced and was leaving her home in Gulf Shores to move to Mobile. Read more »

Christmas Angels

Each Christmas my wife and I buy small angel tree toppers. We then get 10/ $100 bills and put them in the hollow opening. We drive around Christmas Eve night to fast food places and C-Stores, walk in, place the angel on the counter, and say Merry Christmas and God bless you…and walk out. Most times we are gone before they discover the gift.

Got Shoes?

I noticed a homeless guy on Government St. in Mobile that had mismatched shoes. I pulled over and asked him what size he wore. So happened the ones on my feet fit him. Handed him a Just Because card and a little something for breakfast. I didn’t realize how much this might have affected him until I saw him again the next day wearing his new kicks :) That made my day.

It was God telling me to help

I haven’t thought much about the Just Because cards lately, I’ve been to wrapped up in my own life to realize how much it means. Then on Friday I was in line at a gas station and knew God was telling me to pay for the lady’s gas ahead of me. I kept questioning it, then when she got to the cashier she asked for $7 in gas. As she walked away, I realized it was God telling me to help. I asked the attendant could I add some money to hers, she did after letting her know, only telling her “Just Because”. The lady asked her to tell me to stay. When she came to me she had  tears in her eyes, looked at me and asked why? I told her what we do at Bay, she said, “you don’t know what you’ve done. I had stomach surgery recently and I’m just getting back on my feet and didn’t even know how I’d put enough gas in my car to find work. I’ve prayed and was giving up, now I know He hears me and I want you to be praying, my name is Gloria, tell Him
that when you pray.  Thank you, you really don’t know what you’ve just done.” By that point I was in tears and as I drove away I looked
over, to see her daughter was a sweet girl I had gone to high school with years ago. I know I was the one who received the blessing!!!

I was on my way to Daphne and  I really didn’t have the gas, but had to run an errand. Not even a minute down the road there was this girl walking with her little baby in the hot sun. I offered her a ride and she declined saying she was headed towards Daphne. I convinced her to get in and we made small talk the whole way. She kept thanking me the whole way and apologizing for her son being a mess. At the end she looked at me and asked why. I told her just because and gave her my number and told her to call anytime she needed anything. I got home later that day and found five dollars in my backseat…

I should’ve given more…

My hairstylist  is a single parent to a beautiful daughter.  She doesn’t charge near as much as most  hairstylists do. Back in March when I had the ” just because cards”. I left after having my hair done and had left her a small tip.  I drove down the road a bit and had this overwhelming feeling that I should’ve given her more.  So I went to a Walgreens and picked out a card.  I wrote a note and put $20.00 with the card from Bay Community in the envelope.  I just went back and walked in and told her that  I wanted to bless her in a small way.  $20.00 was a small amount and I never missed it.  Just lately I went back  to get my hair done. Her daughter was there.  Easter weekend was coming up and I told her it would mean so much to me to be able to give her $ 20.00 more for her to go and do something special with her daughter. I was in the same situation once with a daughter not much older than hers.  I remember how tight money was. This has been my pleasure.  I pray that I can always show the love of God when he wants me to bless someone.

The God who sees

I decided to go through the car wash at the Malbis Shell station a few days ago.  The young man who was the car wash attendant that day had no idea that the Lord was about to bless him, and neither did I.  When I was about midway through the car washing, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me to go back around after the car wash finished, and talk to the young man and give him the $50.00 bill that I had just gotten about 10 minutes earlier.  I had to smile because I knew this was going to be another special blessing time for me!  I drove back around, parked, and started walking toward his little booth.  He met me half way out with curiosity.  I said “I know you might think this is a little strange, but the Lord wanted me to come talk to you and give you this money.’ Read more »

Local restaurant

I am a waitress and I make my living based upon tips. I have decided to pay for every single lady’s lunch that comes in to our establishment. I told myself that I would pay for as many that I have ‘Just Because’ cards for. I haven’t run out of cards yet because a lot of the ladies leave them there. Also, on the days that I have paid for others lunches, I have made a tremendous amount more than I normally do. I have decided that this will be a way that I can bless someone on a daily basis. Not just until I run out of cards. It has also been wonderful to prove to my coworkers that being a blessing to someone else can also be a blessing to yourself. Just because…

Date night

My husband and I go on a date on a regular basis and we went to our “normal” spot for dinner. It was a pretty crowded night and obviously we were getting antsy. We finally got seated and about a couple tables down from us was a couple and their teenage daughter. I know them from work. I can say that these people haven’t had it so easy the last few months. I won’t tell their story, but all these people have had was a lot of judgment thrown their way. We all know that we have absolutely no right to judge anyone unless we have never sinned. Anyways, my husband and I decided that we wanted to “Just Because” them. We didn’t want them to know who did it, but we wanted them to feel that not everyone judges them and that they are loved. So a couple days later, the man came into my office and thanked me for the dinner. At first I tried acting like I had no idea what he was talking about, but then he told me that they had been heavily searching for the right church to attend and to actively serve in. He said that he believes that the “Just Because” card was a way for God to show them where they needed to be. Ever since then they’ve been at Bay and are planning on becoming members and making Bay Community their new home and family.
