Helping a homeless family
What a powerfully moving message and gift Pastor Jerry.
I really appreciate the message and especially the idea of waiting
and praying on the subject. I so wanted to just run out and give
my envelope to the nearest and closest charity. But I waited and
prayed. The Lord is awesome.
Last night my ex-wife came to my house to pick up something my
son had left there. We were talking for just a little while when she
asked if she had told me the story of the homeless lady. I said no
but go ahead. My ex-wife worked for years in child care. One of
the ladies she used to work with has started a brand new day
camp in Daphne. My daughter attends this camp and my son
works as a counselor at this camp.
Anyway, she proceeded to tell me about this homeless lady that
went into the camp crying her eyes out and begging for help with
her two children. They were homeless but this lady was getting an
opportunity to fix that because she had finally found a job but
needed to put her children somewhere. She had just been turned
away by another day camp in Daphne where she had been
promised financial assistance and was awarded a minimal amount
that she was not going to be able to afford at all.
After meeting this lady and hearing her story, the director of this
camp told the lady she was not sure where she was going to get
the money for these children to attend but there was no way she
was “going to turn these children of God away.” I asked my ex
wife when she was going to take our kids to the camp would she
do me a favor and I handed her the envelope and asked to give to
that lady and if she asked where it came from tell her that God
gave it to her.
I just knew that God was going to present the right place for that
envelope. This lady is now going to be able to work and get her
kids back in a home. That seed was planted and will be able to
hopefully help that family. God is awesome!!!
Thank you Pastor Jerry and all of Bay Community!
