Moved with compassion

I recently attended the Mississippi Fire Chief’s conference in Hattiesburg, and felt that I just needed to have my faith stimulus envelope with me. Not long into the first day of the conference the fire chief from a small department in the Vicksburg area told us a tragic story about his assistant chief. They had just returned from a late evening call, and the assistant chief quickly made his way home. He arrived and found his two kids asleep with mom, so he placed the kids back in their room and went on to bed. A little while later the house caught on fire. He was able to get himself and his wife out of the house, but lost his two children and the house to the fire. As the chief told the story, we were so overwhelmed at such a loss. He also mentioned that they are no longer able to have children. I immediately knew that the $80.00 in my envelope was meant for this husband and wife. I told him about the church and the Faith Stimulus effort, and he was very excited to pass it along to them. I am so grateful to be a part of this fellowship! May God continue to bless our community through this effort!

I am beyond words! My cousin, Amanda Boland, is a volunteer fire fighter in Vicksburg and was the first to respond to that fire. She and her crew worked so hard to save the kids but it was just too late. I feel like I have shared in their grief….and my thoughts and prayers have been with them for weeks. Hearing your story brings me so much joy and I know it gave them hope and touched their lives in an awesome way! I am thrilled! God works in mysterious and powerful ways! Thank you for sharing!
