Hello Bay Community

I got all the letters from all those people from church and I figured the best way to respond and let people know how much they mean to me and my guys is to write you. A little background on myself for the people who will one day meet me and the old friends that will be catching up with me. I grew up in south Alabama going to Bay Community. I was there when the church was built. I can remember hurting myself playing basketball at the old church and Melanie Taylor running out to momma’s car with a bag of frozen popsicles for the pain haha!! Anyways, I ended up moving to Silverhill, going to Central Christian. I got really big into sports, and had multiple opportunities to go play college soccer or baseball. But instead I started hanging out with the wrong crowd doing all the wrong things at all the wrong times and places. I look back now and remember all the things I used to do and I actually thank God for keeping me out of trouble for all those years. I feel like God wanted me to learn from my mistakes on my own. Christ-like Car Wash

The sun was shining bright and we were washing cars to raise money for an upcoming missions trip to Juarez, MX. We had washed car, after car, after car and we kept getting more and more sunburnt! I was so caught up in getting the cars in and out so quick, then this gentleman walked up to me to pay for having his car washed, he gave me the money and then also gave me more money wrapped around a “just because” card and pointed to the car after his in line and said that his car was on him and to give him the card. I knew some about this outreach from twitter and I was so happy to be a small part in this.

After it all happened I realized that more times in a day we could all do something small or big to help someone out. It moved me. Not long after that a very kind lady that knows the ministry that I’m a part of stopped by and give us some homemade brownies “just because”! So all in all it was a Just Because day!

Scouting for a Cause

I was getting off I-10 onto Hwy 98 and there was a homeless man looking for help.  I had just bought 2 boxes of girl scout cookies the day before and had them in the front seat.  So I rolled down the window and gave them to him. As I pulled away the song “let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me” came on.  It was God speaking to me and acknowledging my deed and reminding me to keep going.  It was on my mind all day afterwards and I took extra steps to be helpful the rest of the day to others.  It has changed my view of the world.  I am truly grateful to have the love of God in my heart.

He is still with her

I was on my way to school and not too thrilled about it either.  I was running a little late but knew I had to get a bite to eat before class.  I pulled into the drive thru at Chick Fil A in Daphne and ordered my meal.  While I was waiting for my turn to pay at the window I felt God compel me to pay for the person’s breakfast behind me who was in a big white Suburban.  In NO way did she look as if she needed any help buying her meal and to be perfectly honest I was a little nervous.  I had never done this before.  I told the cashier that I wanted to pay for the person behind me and told the cashier to tell the person to have a blessed day.  I felt like I had obeyed God and that alone boosted my mood substantially. I couldn’t just walk away

I went to school one day and I was in my fourth block Spanish class where I saw a bag on my teachers desk that said ‘Luna Donations’. I said, “Mrs.Hunter what is this for?” She told me the story and it broke my heart. A little boy who was in first grade  got sick and went to the hospital. They thought it was a stomach bug but it turned out he had a bacterial infection, inflammation in his spine, and they did not know what was going on with him. Read more »

Just Because…

0 Comments | This entry was posted on Feb 03 2011

It is our goal to change lives by simply loving people until they ask why. In February, we launched a community wide outreach that we call “Just Because.” The heart behind it all is to get our entire church out in the community doing random acts of kindness. It could be paying for a person’s meal at a restaurant, cutting your neighbors grass, or anything that expresses the love of Christ to our community… just because.

A family in need

I’d like to share our story. A few years ago, a man that I worked with died. He left behind a wife and two young boys. These boys loved their dad so much. He was a very big part of their lives! It has been extremely tough for them. I see the wife every now and then around town, and I know that they are struggling financially. Read more »

Future of the children

There was a little boy I taught in second grade and then I was fortunate enough to once again teach him in fourth grade this past year. The tragedy is that his mother was murdered, and that left his little brother and little sister and him alone. The children are being taken care of by their great grandmother and their grandmother who has cancer. Read more »

No one else would help

My family and I saw a woman whose car was broke down in Pensacola on May 15. It was about 8:30 P.m. and we went over to see if we could help. When we got there there was actually a whole family there and the husband was trying to fix the battery and alternator. The family was from Turkey and have only been in the country for about a month. They were at the toy store to get their son a birthday present. The husband was the only one who spoke english and said they had been out there for three hours and no one stopped to help them. We got his car running well enough to get them home that night, Read more »
