The faith of giving

I was at the Saturday night service when I was given the gift of giving!
After the message and service… I took my envelope and placed it in my vehicle. My wife asked, “How much was in your envelope…”
“I don’t know” “Well arent you going to open it?” “Here give it to me and I’ll open it!”…. “No thanks… I have a special purpose for this gift… the amount is irrelevent.. but the act of the gift is what I’m asking the Lord to share with me?”
Now my story isn’t dramatic with a great storyline..but a reflection of on my stance for giving. It occurred today while driving down the road. I had the envelope in my visor…and was in the middle of a very intense conversation with a customer. I’m a Sales Manager and its common place to be on the phone… this was different however. As I came to a stop light.. I noticed a man standing in the rain… he kept looking at me. He was asking for help? I tried to ignore him and talk with my customer.. but a feeling came over me to plant my acorn. I paused my conversation ..motioned him to the vehicle and gave him the envelope. He blessed me and touched my arm in compassion.
It was a brief moment in time… but I realized that God is in your life
…every moment of every day. You can never get too consumed with earthly events and routines.. Your gift has helped me focus on the acorn and the faith of giving. Thank you Bay Community and thank you Pastor Jerry!
